The American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) held its annual scientific meeting in National Harbor, Maryland on March 19-22, 2015. There were a number of presentations from leading researchers in the field of pain management. To follow are highlights from the meeting.

From this Meeting:

Protective matrix created by injecting cross-linked hyaluronic acid at the neural matrix may provide shield to help management neuropathic pain.
A new study calls into question the common belief that smoking is predictive of medication abuse.
A new computer algorithm, PPRISM, helps screen patient before back surgery to optimize results from low back surgery.
Further guidelines are needed to define the frequency and duration of urine drug screening in pain management practices.
