At the 2018 American Academy of Pain Medicine’s Annual Meeting in Vancouver, Practical Pain Management spoke with former AAPM President Gerald Aronoff, MD, Medical Director of the Carolina Pain Associates in Charlotte, North Carolina, about the pain management community’s heightened focus on multidisciplinary wellness. Specifically, Dr. Aronoff discusses the patient’s role with regard to sleep and nutrition, and how patients should be viewed as partners in pain care.

In addition, Dr. Aronoff, discussed the evolving role of opioids in pain management, including abuse-deterrent and opioid-sparing therapy, and the ongoing obstacle of obtaining insurance coverage for alternative therapies.
