Practical Pain Management Community Advice

Norhydrocodone in urine but I take Tylenol3

From: Debdo2274 - 1 year 41 weeks ago

I was recently released from my pain contract because I tested positive for trace amounts of norhydrocodone and I take Tylenol3. I don't understand how this is happening I have not taken any hydrocodone. The only other thing that I use for pain is Ibuprofen and when I can afford it marijuana (which my physician knew of and allowed). Now because of the positive of the norhydrocodone he has cut my medication without tapering me off and I am going through withdrawals. what is causing this positive reading.

Hydrocodone is made from codeine and is metabolized into hydromorphone, HYDROCODONE, and other opiates in your liver. Perhaps they tested for metabolites and (I don’t know) but perhaps codeine also metabolizes into hydromorphone. It would be worth checking into, also request a blood test.

So... bottom line hydrocodone IS a metabolite of Codeine, in other words codeine breaks down into hydrocodone in your body. They should know this.
Good luck,
Keep searching. There is more. They made a mistake.
