Has Anyone Been to Special Pain Management Program?

From: bunnyfoofoo08 - 1 year 15 weeks ago

HI!

I have not had success with local doctors, etc. dealing with my arthritis pain, fibromyalgia, migraines....chronic pain. I have been reading about special programs in other states, for example there is a program run by the Mayo Clinic in Florida specifically for people with chronic pain. Has anyone experienced going away from where they live to a specialized medical program to get treatment? What was your experience like?

Hi!

I am in the same situation as you are...no help from local doctors. I live in rural north central Arkansas and have searched for help as far as Little Rock (3 hrs. away) and Springfield, MO (2-1/2 hrs. away) and many places in between. I am in excruciating constant pain and have been for 13 years. I am wheelchair- and house-bound, cannot perform many ADLs, and cannot sleep. I have been living in a recliner for 7 yrs. and constantly have "bedsores" on my back along my spine. I've had 2 failed lumbar surgeries and a C-spine surgery. I, like you, am trying to find a place that will treat chronic intractable pain no matter where it is. I hope someone out there can help us; in the meantime, I wish you luck and will keep checking back.
