About Mahoua Ray, MD

Mahoua Ray, MD, is a board-certified pain management specialist who has over 12 years of experience as an anesthesiologist and pain physician. She graduated valedictorian in her medical school and did anesthesia residency at prestigious John H Stroger hospital in Cook County, Chicago in 2008. After completion of her ACGME accredited Pain Fellowship, she joined the Leavenworth Veterans Administration Hospital where she served in various supervisory roles including Associate Chief of Anesthesiology and Interim Service Line Manager for Surgical Care. She set up the first Pain Clinic at the Eastern Kansas Health Care System and performed complicated spine procedures including radio-frequency ablations, cervical spine interventions and sympathetic nerve blocks.

In 2015, she co-founded Kansas Pain Management with Dr. Mayank Gupta with a small office in Lenexa, Kansas. They have since grown into multiple offices and are able to cut the cost of procedures by performing office based fluoroscopic procedures.

 Dr. Rays current medical practice focuses on acute pain, interventional pain management for headaches, radio-frequency ablation, thoraco-lumbar fascia injections, ultra-sound guided procedures, and Platelet rich plasma joint injections.

 Dr. Ray has been running the Acute Pain service at two local area hospitals for the past 5 years She manages acute post-operative pain, neuropathic pain, opioid tolerant patients, and critically ill patients. She is Section Chief of Pain Management Services at Menorah Medical Center. Dr. Ray has extensive training in critical care and is able to treat end stage cancer pain and extremely frail patients. She has excellent patient satisfaction scores for her expertise in both acute and chronic pain.

She has special interest in Practice Management and is founder of Indus which helps with consulting, practice management and billing for small physician owned practices.
