About Jennifer L. Murphy, PhD

Jennifer L. Murphy, PhD, has spent her career specializing in the behavioral treatment of individuals with chronic pain. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University and joined the Tampa VA in 2005 where she was tasked with developing a pain program for veterans returning from the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. In 2011, she became Clinical Director of the VA’s first inpatient Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program that assists in tapering participants off of opioid analgesics during their admission. As the VA’s Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Pain Master Trainer and lead Therapist Manual author, she has trained hundreds ofclinicians in the use of CBT-CP. In addition, Dr. Murphy has been the VA’s primary champion in the development and implementation of interdisciplinary pain programs, which have increased from 2 to 20 in the last 10 years. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and is currently authoring a book for the American Psychological Association (APA) on integrated behavioral strategies for chronic pain and opioid management.
