About John F. Peppin, DO, FACP

John F. Peppin, DO, FACP, is board certified in internal medicine and pain medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Pain Medicine. He is also board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine through the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine and is a certified Education on Palliative and End-of-Life Care (EPEC) trainer.

Dr. Peppin graduated from the University of California at Davis with his Bachelor in physiology in 1983, completing a medical degree in 1992 and Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Wisconsin, Marshfield Clinic in 1996.

He was formerly medical director, global pharmaceuticals, Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals in St. Louis, and chief medical officer for Castle Medical in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently, Dr. Peppin is a consultant in the areas of pain and palliative medicine, clinical research, and internal medicine. Dr. Peppin was the founder of Iowa Pain Management Clinic, P.C. in Des Moines, now closed.

In addition, he is the former medical director of Integrated Clinical Trial Services in Des Moines. He is one of the founding members for the Iowa Pain Management Institute and founding faculty for the University of Integrated Studies in California.

Dr. Peppin serves on numerous professional committees. Additionally, he is an editor and peer reviewer for numerous journals and the Cochrane PaPaS Group, and has edited numerous books. He has published over 65 articles in the fields of pain management and palliative care and bioethics. He has presented numerous lectures, papers, and posters at conferences nationally and internationally on topics in pain and palliative medicine, bioethics, end of life care, and internal medicine.
